- notes on quantitative, qualitative similarities and differences; the difference between accuracy and precision; defining and identifying independent and dependent variables in an experiment; metric system prefixes; and how to measure correctly using meters stick.

Absent students-

- to make up lab, write a one-page paper on the importance of using standards in science. (Include how standards are used and what are the different standards used in science).
- Watch chemistry video hyperlink above and answer these questions

- notes on the metric system; how to do metric conversions; writing numbers in scientific notation; multiplying and dividing numbers in scientific notation using calculator. For reinforcement look at pages 126-132 in your textbook and do some of the problems on page 164 (1-20).
- Hand out issues with the lab equipment that will be used in class throughout the year.
