Week-1 (Aug 7-9)

 Friday
- notes on quantitative, qualitative similarities and differences; the difference between accuracy and precision; defining and identifying independent and dependent variables in an experiment; metric system prefixes; and how to measure correctly using meters stick.
-lab incorporating the before mentioned information.
-HW- Watch Lab safety video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv9imJzZWrY

and write main safety ideas (10 minimum)

Absent students-
  1.  acquire the notes of the day
  2.  to make up lab, write a one-page paper on the importance of using standards in science.  (Include how standards are used and what are the different standards used in science).
  3. Watch chemistry video hyperlink above and answer these questions

  1.  notes on the metric system; how to do metric conversions; writing numbers in scientific notation; multiplying and dividing numbers in scientific notation using calculator. For reinforcement look at pages 126-132 in your textbook and do some of the problems on page 164 (1-20).
  2.  Hand out issues with the lab equipment that will be used in class throughout the year.
